Those
were the days in India when children used to go on a vacation with their
families. Today, reputed schools in the country are taking students to many
exciting destinations like Vietnam, NASA, Disney Park, etc.
during their holidays. They are guided by their teachers together with an expert tour operator.

Principal
Molly Cyril of Choice School said, “A long tour to distant lands with friends
and teachers is not just about entertainment and fun but it is also about
enhancing educational tone”. He further added, “The school organizes such tours
only during official school holidays to assure that the students don’t neglect
their regular classes”. The institution has been conducting such educational
tours for the last two years and is gaining immense popularity.
In
2012, the students of classes IX-XI were taken on a trip to Vietnam and before
the tour, they were well informed about the Vietnam War and other such
historical facts about the place, said Mr. Cyril.
According
to many schools offering tours like that, the students have to contribute a sum
of around Rs. 1 lakh- 2 lakhs to be part of such educational tours.
The
Principal of Christhujayanthi Public School, Saji Varghese revealed that it is
not beyond the comfort level of every student. But, anyone who can afford the tour
cost gets a unique opportunity to explore new places and learn many good things
that will benefit them in the long run. It’s not just about roaming around and
having fun, he concluded. Last year, the public school had conducted tour for
the students to the Columbus State University, Atlanta and Georgia.
Many
tour operators say that several schools had inquired about taking students
overseas for academic expeditions. The General Manager of Riya Tours and
Travels, Saji Kurian said “The parents in Kerala were also very positive and
encouraged such educational tours by the schools”. The tour company has
organised an excursion to NASA for the students of Global Public School.
Joy
Peter, Director (Operations), Intersight Holidays said, “These educational trips
were very familiar amongst institutions in the neighbouring city of Chennai and
are rapidly gaining momentum in Kerala.
