Now it will be much easier for
residents of Chandigarh to attain information about Kerala tourism attractions
like beaches, forts and ayurvedic centres of remedial value.
The tourism department of Kerala has
decided to employ a full time connection office in Chandigarh. The tourism
endorsement programme started off with an event, “Discover Kerala-Recharge Your
Soul” on Tuesday.
It was a mixture of Kerala’s region
and religion, from its traditional dance forms like KathaKali, Theyyam and
Thullal to luscious cuisine like pottupuri, thattukada, chaayaakada etc.
The
afternoon session was followed by a trade conference between business folks
from Kerala and Chandigarh.
The tourist information officer, Thomas
Antony, said, “Since 2007, it is our second visit to Chandigarh. We are to endorse
the state and its cultural trends. The tourism department is scheming to carry
out workshops across the country and in all parts of the world like Sweden, France
and Germany in order to attract more visitors. The iconic destinations of
Kerala have featured on the world tourism map since last year.”
He added, “Even in current Google
search trends, Kerala has developed into the number one travel destination.”
Deputy Director of Kerala, Polsi K A,
said, “People of Chandigarh have a lot to observe in Kerala. We have
Kottappuram and fort and beaches, which are the hub of attraction. Home stays
in Kerala have been chosen as one of the best. Also that, the monsoon is the
ideal time to visit the place.”
