The state has shown a steady growth in the number of the foreign travelers visiting the state.
Compared to the 7.33 lakh foreigners that visited the state in the year 2011 the number rose to7.94 for the year 2012. The rise may not be much high but surely is a moral boost to the state tourism.

Recently at a press meet the tourism
department revealed the total earnings form both the direct and the indirect
sources which said to collect 21,125 crores in the year 2012 compared 19,037
crores of the years 2011.
The rise was not only seen in the case of the
international tourists visiting the state but the numbers have been seen to
climb in the domestic field too. In the past year 2012 the number of visits
made by the Indian tourists was said to be 1 crore compared to the 93.88 of
2011.
The travel
experts say, Kerala has been the most favored
state by the tourists from India and place like Kovalam, Alleppey,
Munnar etc have been seen to be the most visited destinations in the state.
A fort based expert quoted, "the steady rise in the tourists can be attributed to the fact that people are now travelling more and exploring destinations within the country as well… With many star hotels coming up in the state and mote tourist friendly facilities available now, international tourism has also got a boost."
