Kerala Tourism’s E-Newsletter, which instigated the use of
internet technology in India’s travel and tourism sector,
has won this year’s Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award.

Kerala Tourism, who is among the 22 winners of the PATA
Awards 2013, was chosen from 165 entries from worldwide consisting of 60 organizations
and individuals, for the award in the Marketing Media category.
Kerala Tourism’s E-Newsletter, developed by Invis Multimedia
and has won the PATA Gold Award for the second time.
It had won the award in 2005.
PATA awards recognise modernization and superiority in the
travel and tourism industry.
It will be presented in the south-west Chinese city of
Chengdu on September 15.
E-Newsletter of Kerala Tourism, launched in 1998, is one of
the most admired travel and tourism newsletters in the world with about 90,000
subscribers.
A P Anil Kumar, Tourist Minister, said that they were truly
honoured to receive this significant award. He said, “It is an appreciation of
our labours to take the brand of Kerala to a wider audience across the world by
informing them about the best of what the state has to present. Our
E-newsletter is a visitor-friendly and reader-friendly platform that is entirely
transparent and useful to travellers.”
Kerala Tourism Seceratary Suman Billa said, “Kerala Tourism
has always grasped the benefits offered by the modern technology thereby making
her or his visit to the state a pleasing experience.”
He also said, “Our E-Newsletters updates not only about the
destinations or how to reach there, but also about what festivals are in the
offing or which handicraft to look for. The newsletter helps a visitor, a
potential visitor or even a common person wanting to know more about Kerala.”
PATA CEO Martin J Craigs said that the judges of this year’s
event were “most impressed” with the class of entry of Kerala Tourism. MGTO
Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said the winners of the PATA Gold
Awards for 2013 exposes the “great vitality of the Asia Pacific travel and
tourism.”
