Goa Tourism Department Looking To Lease Tiracol Fort for 33 Years

PANAJI: As per the sources, Goa Tourism Development Corporation has decided to lease the old and the most popular
Tiracol Fort also known as Terekhol Fort to the bidders for a time span of 33 years, breaking it in 3 part of 11 years each. Champions luxury resorts and homes, Bangalore and Asian hotels, New Delhi has called their bids on a floating tender.

For more active tourism activities, GTDC has decided to develop the fort area into an eco-tourism centre and a nature feast and is with the plan to make the place a prime tourism location in the state.

The decision to bring out the best was taken in a board meeting which was held in July. And the sources said, motives are to develop the fort area in such way so that it get valued and at a same time propose should enhance tourism destination.

Successful bidder will have their share and as per the plan rock garden, earmarking play area for children, building civic amenities like restrooms, changing rooms and cloak rooms would be install at a side of fort.

Spa and yoga centre are also looks to have their share beside that floating Jetty would be introduce to connect an adjoining area.

Cottages are also going to be added lounge on top of the fort and cafeteria, high-end bar and restaurant. Furthermore they are looking to install Temporary cottages and a display structure for handicrafts.

For adventure seekers they have a brilliant prospect to install rappelling, rock climbing, gymnasium, scuba diving, snorkelling and other adventure activities. Shop would be installed who would be selling souvenirs and handicraft items.

Fort would also be a place where music festivals and outdoor parties will be held. But so far as permission for outdoor parties are concerned they would strictly say no to vulgar dance performances and casino activities and if they found violating a rules their licence would be cancelled.
