Panjim:  soon it claimed a rise of 10 percent in tourist inflow numbers, the state got honour from nation declaring
Goa as a winner of 'The Best Leisure Destination' at the Readers’ Travel Awards 2013.

As the result were announced November 28, 2013. Goa claimed this Honour for a second time leaving Kerala behind, which was a soul competitor.

In the meanwhile state is preparing a festive season to go with boom and tourism department are looking forward to install better facilities so that tourist can have a maximum moment here. And to initiate the festive delight state has declared the feast of St. Xavier will be celebrated at the Basilica of Bom Jesus, Old Goa on December 3, 2013.

As this festival brings a number of tourist at a shores of Goa, who travels distance to witness a miracle of St. Xavier and his body that lies in a silver casket. It is believed that a touch of St. Xavier has a healing power and it will be displayed next year during the Exposition. 

Christmas, which is a biggest festival here, department of tourism are planning to do something extra to bring out the best of Christmas experience.

At the same time Goa tourism department also understands a safety measures and department is planning to provide maximum safety during a peak hour of tourism. And to initiate with the same, you will see women taxi driver driving down the lane of Panjim, Margao, Mapusa and Vasco, who would give a lift to women travellers. The service is being introduced by Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) in collaboration with Green Earth Translogistic Pvt Ltd (GETPL).

Beside that the coastal area of Goa is under a strict vigilance of coast guards who will be securing a coast.  The IRB personal would serve a 24/7 to make sure no hamper are caused.

The Director of Tourism, Government of Goa, Mr. Nikhil Desai, complimented locals for being warm and welcoming and thanked readers and at a same time acknowledged an effort and also promised upgrading facility and sounding infrastructure, and ensured optimum security.
